Van Sloten garners MVP honors
Wartburg senior center Sharese Van Sloten of Decorah was tabbed the Most Valuable Player of the 2008-09 Knights' women's basketball squad at its end-of-the-year awards banquet April 3.
Van Sloten, who was a first team all-Iowa Conference and third team D3Hoops.com all-West Region honoree, became the 12th member of the program's 1,000-point club during the campaign. She led Wartburg Head Coach Bob Amsberry's squad in scoring (14.5 points per game) and rebounding (7.7 boards per game).
