Vikings shock No. 3 New Hampton
With the game tied at 14, the Decorah football team (1-1) put together a long drive to score the go-ahead touchdown and get the 21-14 win on the road against No. 3 New Hampton (1-1) Friday night.
Warriors fall to Waukon
After going up 3-0 on a fumble and field goal to start the game, the South Winn football team (0-2) struggled to contain the Waukon (1-1) running game, losing 27-11 Friday night in Calmar.
Trojans move to 2-0
The Turkey Valley football team picked up their second non-district win of the year, defeating Valley Community 50-24 in Elgin Friday night.
Viking swimmers looking for fun, top seven finish in '10
With six returning athletes who have state experience - including an all-American - a host of top 16 scorers and several younger swimmers ready to lead the Decorah girls swim team into the upper echelon, sixth year Head Coach Stephanie Huber is excited to see how far the squad can rise and how much fun they can have along the way.
Vike spikers net win
With the match tied at 1-1, the Decorah volleyball team (1-0) picked up two close-game wins Tuesday, defeating St. Ansgar (0-1) 3-1 (25-16, 19-25, 25-23, 25-23) to record their first victory of the year.
Trojans fall to Chickasaws
The Turkey Valley volleyball team (0-1) had a tough time with 3A New Hampton last Thursday in their first game of the season, losing 3-0 (11-25, 19-25, 23-25).

With No. 7 Turkey Valley (1-0) holding a slim 14-6 lead late in the fourth quarter, South Winn (0-1) twice had a chance to put the ball in the end zone in the waning minutes of the game but couldn't convert as the Trojans held on to get the win against their bitter rivals.
Vike swimmers off to solid start
Although no team scores were kept, Decorah swimming Coach Stephanie Huber was pleased with the effort her team put in at Charles City Saturday in their first meet of the year.
Warriors start year with win
The South Winn Warrior volleyball team (1-0) picked up a win in their first match of the season, defeating Kee (0-1) in three games, 25-15, 25-18, 25-16.
Youthful Vike harriers contenders for another conference title
With 53 participants and three returning state competitors, the 2010 Decorah boys cross country team, ranked No. 5 in Class 3A in the state, looks to again be a contender in Fort Dodge and wrap up their sixth Northeast Iowa Conference title in the last seven years.
Big numbers, strong competition brewing for Decorah spikers
Having lost several standout players from the 2009 season, the Viking volleyball team will be looking for their returning letter winners and newcomers to step up and lead them to a winning season.

The Decorah sophomore football team (1-0) started the 2010 campaign off with a solid 34 to 7 victory over the Union-La Porte City Knights (0-1).
Frosh grab win
Led in the air and on the ground by quarterback Bryce Pierce, the Decorah freshmen football team (1-0) knocked off Union-La Porte City Thursday night 42-18 to claim their first victory of the season.


NAA fall sports luncheon Sept. 9
The Norse Athletic Association (NAA) is hosting the fall sports luncheon Thursday, Sept. 9, at 12 noon.
Flipz registration now open
Fall 2010 classes at Flipz Gymnastics are now open for registration. Annual registration fee is $25 per athlete.

It was a battle to the end but Turkey Valley came out on top in the week one rival against South Winn Friday night 14-6.
Decorah drops opener
After taking a halftime lead, Union-La Porte City (1-0) added three more touchdowns in the second half to hand Decorah (0-1) their first loss of the season 35-20 Friday night in Decorah.
New faces, new opponents for Vikings in 2010
A bitter loss to District rival New Hampton in the Class 3A quarterfinals of the 2009 state football tournament will be the motivation for the 2010 Vikings.
Warriors hoping for repeat run to state championship
Last year was a dream season for the South Winn football team as it cruised through much of the regular season, then became the Cinderella squad of the playoffs, on the way to a 12-2 overall record (8-1 in the District) and a state championship runner-up finish under head Coach Jason Ohrt.
