One Iowa, the state's largest LGBT advocacy organization, will host a town hall meeting to discuss marriage equality in Iowa Sunday, March 15, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Decorah.
The Iowa Supreme Court is likely to hand down a decision int he historic Varnum v. Brien marriage case in the next few months, which involves local couple Bill Musser and Otter Dreaming.
If the court upholds the district court ruling, Iowa would join Massachusetts and Connecticut as the next state to marry committed gay and lesbian couples.
Sunday's townhall will feature an update from a One Iowa representative on the prospects for marriage equality in Iowa, including an update on the lawsuit.
The meeting will also feature Academy Award winning documentary "Freeheld" and One Iowa's short film "Our Story," which features Iowans sharing their support for marriage equality.
The townhall is part of a series of statewide events hosted by One Iowa that are designed to spark a discussion about the freedom to marry in Iowa. As the state's largest LGBT advocacy group, One Iowa is committed to building grassroots support for marriage equality throughout the state.
