Three local swimmers will be competing at the Iowa Senior Short Course Championship meet, held this weekend in Iowa City.
Decorah High School swim team members Nolan Heffern and Mac Faldet, along with Decorah eighth grader Micala Folkedahl, will all compete at the meet, held Friday through Sunday, Feb. 28, March 1 and March 2, held at the University of Iowa CRWC-Aquatic Center.
The meet is open to all current 2014 ISI registered swimmers, and all athletes must have an Iowa Q time standard in each event in which they compete.
Folkedahl will compete in the female 13-14 100 fly, with a time of 1:08.61; and the female 13-14 50 free, with a qualifying time of 27.79 seconds.
Faldet will compete in the male 100 breaststroke (1:01.62), male 200 breaststroke (2:20.14) and male 50 freestyle (23.40 seconds).
Heffern will compete in the male 200 freestyle (1:54.53), male 100 fly (55.53 seconds), male 100 backstroke (58.15 seconds), male 50 freestyle (24.43 seconds) and male 100 freestyle (1:00.97).
Heffern and Faldet both competed at the state swim meet earlier this month, with Faldet earning 14th in the 100 breaststroke. Heffern and Faldet were both a part of the 400-yard freestyle which finished 18th while Heffern was on the 200-yard freestyle, which finished 14h.
Folkedahl is a member of the Decorah summer swim team.
All three are members of the newly formed Decorah Swim Club.
