Jan. 8 - The Decorah wrestling team made it five years in a row of winning the Flanagan Invite. Kellan O'Shea and Hans Holkesvik were winners in their weight brackets. Turkey Valley, which finished fifth in team standings, crowned Luke Kuennen as the only champion.

Former Luther softball player Kelsey (Kittleson) Millonig has been named the Duane Schroeder IIAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the 2011-12 academic year.
The Turkey Valley wrestling team defeated South Winn 43-29. The Trojans won eight of the 13 weight classes that competed.
Jan. 10 - Four South Winn grapplers were perfect as the Warriors hosted North Butler and Nashua-Plainfield. Luis Uribe, Landers Kuboushek, Ethan Kipp and Colton Hageman all went undefeated.
Luther College recently hosted Community Day, going a perfect 4-for-4 with both basketball teams and swim teams winning their matches.
The Turkey Valley girls basketball team came up four points short, falling to MFL 46-49.
Jan. 15 - Decorah's Hans Holkesvik swept the awards at the Decorah Duals as the Vikes went 5-0 to take the team title. Turkey Valley was second, with South Winn fourth. Holkesvik was named the Bruce Kinseth and Natvig/Wicks/Fullhard award winner.
The Decorah boys swim team had a perfect night in the pool against Waterloo East, winning 105-40. Decorah swept the relays, taking all three gold medals.
Former Luther Head Football Coach Mike Durnin has been hired as Assistant Head Coach for the University of Dubuque football team. Durnin coached the Norse for five seasons.
