Five Luke Kuennen touchdown runs pushed the Turkey Valley football team (5-3, 5-1 district) to a 42-27 victory Friday night at Postville (4-4, 4-2 district).

With the win, the Trojans have guaranteed second place in the district, meaning they will get a home game for the opening round of the playoffs Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Good comeback

The Trojans needed to stay strong Friday night as the Pirates came back in the third quarter to make things interesting.

TV got on the board first when Kuennen scored his first TD of the game on an 8-yard run. Riley Meirick kept the two-point try to give the Trojans their first score. Postville responded in the frame on a 15-yard pass. However, the Pirates went for the PAT to make it 8-7.

The Trojans scored twice in the second, first on a Kuennen 8-yard rush and the second on a 5-yard scramble. Yet again, the Pirates came back, getting a 3-yard run to make it 20-14 TV at the half.

Early in the third, the Pirates took a brief lead when they scored on a 20-yard pass. However, a Kuennen rush in the third and another in the fourth sealed the victory. Ryan Busta scored an insurance TD as well in the fourth.
