Weather can’t stop the Trojans

Despite the chilly temperatures, the Turkey Valley girls and boys track teams showed strong results at New Hampton Thursday night.

The Trojan girls placed first with 170 points. North Fayette Valley was a close second with 151.
The Trojans finished in the top three in 15 of the 19 events, with six first-place finishes.
Johanna Blazek took the gold in the 100-meter dash, blazing down the track in 13.30 seconds.
Kirsten Huinker won the 400-meter run. She ran around the track in 1:05.77. Shelby Reicks continued the win streak at the mid-distances. She clocked in at 2:35.26 in the 800. S. Reicks was also the champion in the 1,500-meter run. Her time was 5:26.76.
Two relays were champions. Blazek, Stephanie Martin, Huinker and Sadie Nymeyer cruised to a victory in the 4x400 in 4:27.16. In the 4x800, Sarah Stahley, S. Reicks, Nymeyer and Huinker won the event in 10:38.31, a win by over 10 seconds.
