Strong play by two Waukon (5-0, 3-0 NEIC) players Tuesday night caused Decorah (1-2, 0-1 NEIC) problems on the way to a 66-51 loss at Waukon.
The Vikes started the game well, keeping with Waukon in the opening minutes. However, the Indians began to pull away at the end of the first, going on a flurry to close the quarter with a 20-13 lead. In the second, the Vikes were stuck on 13 points for the first few minutes, allowing Waukon to build the lead to 27-13. Decorah ended up with nine points for the frame, going into the locker room down 35-22.
The Indian defense continued to harass the Vikings in the second half as Decorah could never make a comeback. They trailed 48-37 at the start of the third and at one point were down by 20 at 60-40 with three minutes remaining.
