Perhaps a little close for comfort, the South Winn baseball team (29-1, 16-1 UIC) picked up two victories Monday night, defeating Postville (7-13, 5-9 UIC) at home.
The first game was 4-3. The Warriors took a 4-1 lead after four innings; however, the Pirates came back with two in the sixth to make things interesting.
Wyatt Opperman picked up the win. He gave up 10 hits and two earned runs.
At the plate, the Warriors had just five hits. Jordan Rommes was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, a triple and a solo home run. Christian Kleve produced a double and a run scored. Tyler Numedahl and Andre Walz had the other hits. Rommes, Ryan Hageman and Logan Schweinefus all had one RBI.
