Bragging rights were on the line Thursday night as the South Winn softball team (10-12, 8-8 UIC) traveled to Jackson Junction to play Turkey Valley (7-13, 2-6 UIC).

It was a battle from the beginning in each game as the Warriors took both games from the host team.

In game one South Winn won 3-1. SW took advantage early, scratching across a run in the first. The Warriors came back for another run in the fourth, then one in the fifth. Turkey Valley's lone run came in the bottom of the seventh.

The Warriors had seven hits. Jenn Panos was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs. Abby Hageman had a single, a double and a run scored. Becca Franzen contributed a double and a run scored. Brittany Shindelar had a double while Leah Elsbernd drove in a run.

Bayley Monroe was the winning pitcher. She went all seven innings, allowing one run on five hits with six strikeouts.

Turkey Valley had five hits. Macey Winter was 2-for-3 with a home run, the lone RBI and a run scored. Johanna Blazek had a double. Olivia Reicks and Emily Elsbernd both had singles.

Jess Hansmeier took the loss. She went seven innings, allowing seven hits and three runs.
