The South Winn track teams started the state tournament Thursday afternoon.
The boys scored three points by taking sixth in the 4x800. Garrett Bohach, Ben Meyer, Devin Franzen and Nathan Meyer crossed the finish line in 8:07.05.
The girls also got on the board when junior Brittany Shindelar placed eighth in the shot put. She had a best put of 37 feet, 11.5 inches.
Several other events also competed Thursday. In the field events, Carson Lensing placed 19th in the shot put with a best of 46 feet, 3.5 inches. In the long jump, B. Meyer claimed 19th by leaping 19 feet, 9.25 inches. Senior Abby Phillips secured 21st in the long jump, with a best of 14 feet, 4.75 inches.
In 11.46 seconds, Jared Schroeder took 17th in the 100-meter dash.
Josie Kriener, Kennidee DeVilbiss, RaeAnn Klimesh and Tiana Bullerman came in 13th in the 4x800 relay in 10:08.47.
Closing out the night was Alex Shatek in the 200-meter dash. He finished in 23.32 seconds, good for 19th.
The Warriors are back on the field Friday at 2 p.m. for field events and 2:40 p.m. for track events.
