The South Winn football team gave it everything it had Friday night but in the end, North Fayette Valley proved too tough to stop, winning 49-14 in West Union in the Class 1A quarterfinals.

The TigerHawks (11-1) move on to face Iowa City Regina (12-0) Saturday in the semifinals.

South Winn ends the season 9-3.

The Warriors put up the first score Friday, with a Jordan Rommes catch and run for the score. The two-point try failed, making it 6-0.

The Tigerhawks answered on their next possession.

NFV took the lead on a 85-yard run to make it 12-6. They added another score in the beginning of the second quarter.

South Winn got back on the board with a Jared Schroeder 11-yard run with 4:06 remaining.

At the half, it was 20-14 NFV.

The TigerHawk running game took care of the second half.
