A slow first quarter was too much for the South Winn boys basketball team (9-11, 8-7 UIC) to overcome Friday night in the final regular season game of the year, with the Warriors falling to Sumner-Fred (18-3, 15-1 UIC) 76-51.

The Warriors finish the regular season fifth in the conference.

Friday night on the road, the Warriors scored just five points in the first eight minutes while the Cougars were on fire, putting up 21. Both teams lit up the scoreboard in the second, scoring a combined 39 points. However, the Warriors just outscored the Cougars by one point, making it 40-25 at the half.

The Cougars again outscored the Warriors in the third, increasing the lead to 22 at 59-37 with eight minutes to go.
