In the opening game of the season Thursday night, the South Winn boys basketball team (0-1, 0-0 UIC) fell at home to Crestwood (1-1) 73-83.
The Warriors put up 18 points in the first quarter, as did Crestwood. Hwoever, it was the second frame that hurt the home team. They scored just eight points while the Cadets added 29 to lead 47-26. The Warriors cut into the lead in the third by outscoring the Cadets 22-13 to make it 48-60. The two teams combined scored 48 in the final eight-minute stretch.
The Warirors were led by Trevor Schweinefus, who had 32 points. Jordan Rommes added 12 points, nine boards and four steals. Brian Kleppe had nine points.
