Facing one of the newest Upper Iowa Conference teams, the South Winn volleyball team (2-3, 1-1 UIC) struggled Thursday night at Starmont (2-4, 1-1 UIC), falling 1-3.

Game scores were 18-25, 21-25, 25-21 and 22-25.

As a team the Warriors had 55 kills, 180 attack attempts, 51 assists, 65 digs and served 71-for-87 with seven aces.

Brittany Shindelar contributed 13 kills and 38 attack attempts, along with 10 digs. Megan Elsbernd had 12 kills and 32 attack attempts. Leah Elsbernd and Becca Franzen both had eight kills.

L. Elsbernd added five assists, 11 digs and served 15-for-17 with three aces. Franzen had 35 assists and served 12-for-14.

Micole Lansing contributed 17 digs while Megan Hageman had 12. Lexie Warth served 14-for-15 with two aces.



The Warriors are off until Thursday, Sept. 19, when they host Turkey Valley at 7:30 p.m.
