It will be a veteran team that tees off for the South Winn boys golf team this spring.
With their top-three linksters back from last year and a solid team of other athletes ready to crack the varsity line-up, the Warriors should be one of the best squads in the conference in 2014.
Leading the way are Paul Jungblut and Doug Schweinefus. Jungblut has been with the team for seven years, with D. Schweinefus in his second year.

Big names
The Warriors were loaded in 2013, with eight of their top-10 back from the year before. The Warriors gelled during the season, despite having limited time outdoors due to a wet spring.
It was a nearly perfect day at the Upper Iowa Conference meet in May, with South Winn, ranked No. 12 in Class 2A, earning second with 314 strokes. Junior Trevor Schweinefus was the medalist-runner up by firing a 72. It was his third all-conference honor. Brother Logan Schweinefus was third overall. Quinten Taylor took eighth while Tanner Kuennen earned his second-straight UIC recognition by finishing 15th. Tanner Mashek shot an 88 while Lars Warth carved an 89.
The Warriors just missed advancing to districts by taking third at the sectional meet with a 318. They were three strokes from second. Individually, T. Schweinefus was the runner-up by fashioning a 75. A week later, T. Schweinefus punched his ticket to state by shooting a 74, earning a tie for third place. On the big stage, T. Schweinefus tied for 17th with a 163 over two days.
