Looking to get back on the winning side, the Decorah boys basketball team (8-10, 3-7 NEIC) did just that Tuesday night, defeating Prairie du Chien, Wis. 40-29 at home on senior night.
It was a slow start for both teams as no one scored for the first three minutes. At the end of the first, Decorah led 7-2. The Blackhawks made it close in the second, getting to 13-10 halfway through, before the Decorah offense fired off eight points to go up 21-13 at the half.
Decorah pushed the lead to double figures in the third, with the defense giving up just eight points total. With eight to go, it was 34-21 Vikes.
Chris Hartman exploded for 14 points to lead the way. Holt Johansen and James Lange both put in eight while Collin Nimrod had six.
