It was a great day to be a Viking Friday as the Decorah boys tennis team produced another big win, this time knocking off Winona Cotter 7-2 on the Luther courts.
“This was a team victory. Our depth came through in singles, and the whole team came through in doubles,” said Coach Reg Laursen.
Decorah picked up singles wins from C.J. Cliff, Brett LaRue, T.J. Misseldine and Karl Sand. All three doubles teams were also victorious.
“We have been emphasizing to play with a purpose to our shots, and I see evidence of that. I saw T.J. Misseldine serve to the T from the deuce side. I saw the ‘punisher’ employed by many players,” said Laursen. “If we want to play at the highest level, we still need to improve our serves and returns and our volleys, especially moving to put away volleys. That said, C.J. Cliff had one of his better days volleying. I like the improvement over last year of many of the guys. We lost to this team 2-5 last year, and they only graduated one senior.”
