It was a tough couple days for the Decorah softball team (4-11, 0-6 NEIC) as the Vikes picked up one win in five tries.

Thursday

Thursday night the Vikings traveled to Crestwood, falling to the host team 4-1.

Decorah scored the first run when Lindsay Smith scored. Crestwood put up two in the first and two in the third.

Decorah had just two hits, singles by Morgan Ihde and Chelsey Twait. Lexi Shelton was the losing pitcher. She didn't allow an earned run and just five hits.

"Despite the disappointing loss, Lexi pitched very well. Our bats have been strong this whole week, and tonight we weren't able to make the adjustments at the plate," said Coach Teri Olson. "Over the last couple of weeks we have relied on our offense to keep us in games. But on nights when our offense isn't as strong, we need to be able to lean on our defense to get the job done. Tonight was a prime example that we need all components of our game."
