Facing the Class 4A No. 1 team, the Decorah girls golf team battled Charles City Monday at Silvercrest Golf Course.

In the end, the depth and experience of the Comets prevailed as they won 179 to 242.
The medalist was Charles City's Megan Joerger, who shot a 39 on the par-36 course. Three-time state champion Jessie Sindlinger didn't compete.
Decorah was led by Alexa Lensing and Talia Raddatz. They both shot 57. Mary Murphy fashioned a 62. Chloe Gossling came in with a 66, while Melanie Gossman had a 67 and Alison Schwartzhoff a 68.
In the JV game, Charles City carved a 216 while Decorah had a 254.
Scores for Decorah were Gabi Cowie, 61; Ashley Gulrud, 61; Hayley Miller, 64; McKenzie Snyder, 68; Courtney Robinson, 71; and Autumn DeLong, 73.
"We were bitten by the '1 or 2 bad holes' bug again. Consistency remains our biggest hurdle," said Coach Scott Pierce.
The Vikes host Winona (Minn.) Friday, May 17, at Oneota at 2 p.m. in an 18-hole dual. The regional final is Monday, May 20, at West Delaware.
