A slow third quarter was too much for the Decorah girls basketball team (2-7, 1-4 NEIC) to overcome Tuesday night at home against Crestwood (7-3, 3-3 NEIC) as the Vikings fell 45-52.

It was back and forth in the first frame, with neither team pulling ahead by more than four. When the buzzer sounded, the Vikings trailed 7-9. In the second quarter, the Vikings kept the Cadets from pulling too far ahead. At the half, they trailed 17-23.

It was ice cold shooting in the third for the home team as Decorah scored just six points. That allowed Crestwood to jump ahead 23-32. Although the Vikes cut the lead to three late in the fourth at 35-38, the Cadets sealed the game in extra minutes.
