Playing on the Luther courts Tuesday night, the Decorah boys tennis team faced a strong opponent in Onalaska (Wis.).

In the end, the visiting team took control, winning 7-2.

"There are many different ways to win tennis matches: superior firepower, nicer strokes, more consistency, more tenacity, keeping your opponent off-balance, better body positioning and footwork, patience, waiting for the right opportunity, finding a point strategy that gives you a comparative advantage over your opponent, head such a listing. Overall, Onalaska had more from this list than Decorah on Tuesday afternoon," said Coach Reg Laursen. "All Decorah members fought hard at times, but in most cases not consistently point in and point out."

Decorah's lone singles win came from C.J. Cliff. Playing at the No. 4 spot, Cliff defeated Luke Tepp 6-2, 6-4.

In doubles, Cliff partnered with Patrick Murphy at the No. 3 spot to defeat Adam Stack and Tommy Jensen 6-4, 7-6(7-4).
