With a full field, the Decorah boys and girls cross country teams raced to the head of the pack Thursday night at the Western Dubuque Invite.
The varsity girls, ranked No. 2 in Class 3A, claimed the Epworth championship, posting a score of 61. They had an average time of 16:51, with a spread of only 38 seconds.
Cascade was right behind the Vikes, taking second with 71 points.
Decorah had two harriers finish in the top-10. Stef Bjerke, who is ranked No. 19 in Class 3A, finished fifth overall in 16:34. Her average mile time was 6:40. Right behind her was teammate and fellow junior Gara Lonning. Lonning, ranked No. 24, posted a time of 16:34 and a mile average of 6:40 to take sixth.
In 11th was Linnea Kepart. The junior No. 25-ranked runner had a time of 16:49, with a mile time of 6:46.
Amanda Taylor and Lydia Hayes crossed the finish line together. Taylor was 19th in 17:06 with an average mile of 6:53. Hayes had a time of 17:12 and an average of 6:55, coming in 20th.
