Wednesday the Vikings hosted New Hampton (17-9, 9-4 NEIC) in a single conference contest. The Chicksaws scored at least one run in four innings, getting the 11-2 victory.
The Vikings scored a run in the fourth and one in the seventh. In total they had five hits, all singles by Tori Hartman, Jenna Iverson, Lindsay Smith, Shelby Stalberger and Chelsey Twait. Twait and Iverson had the RBIs. Lexi Shelton was the losing pitcher. She threw four innings, giving up six runs on five hits. Hartman threw the final three innings.
"New Hampton is a strong hitting team, and we were expecting that from them. However, we gave them a few extra bases at times and they came up with a timely hits when they needed it to really pull away from us," said Coach Teri Olson. "I thought we hit the ball pretty well tonight but were not as fortune with clutch hits. We left ten runners on base but couldn't push them across the plate. Every inning I thought we were going to make some noise, but we just didn't get it done. I am looking forward to seeing them again next week."
