After playing a good game Wednesday night in conference action, the Decorah baseball team (13-6) stumbled Friday night.
Decorah is now 8-4 in NEIC action and has four games left to play before the conference champion is crowned.
Wednesday the Vikings traveled to Cresco to face the Cadets (8-13, 4-8 NEIC).
It was a quick game, with Decorah winning 14-1 in five innings. The game started off with Decorah earning three straight walks. With the bases loaded and no outs, Josey Jewell hit a three-RBI single. After a scoreless second inning, Decorah added five runs in the third, then three in the fourth and three in the fifth.
Decorah had just seven hits in the game, but took advantage of seven walks and four hit batsmen. Dustin Cary pounded a triple, scored twice and had two RBIs. Jewell drove in three, had a double and scored once. Gavin Nimrod had a triple, a run scored and two RBIs while Kyle Cane had a double. Brady Dawley drove in a run while Bryton Meyer, Cole Svestka, Jaob Kvale and Collin Nimrod all scored two runs.
Kane was the winning pitcher. In five innings he gave up one run on eight hits, struck out two and walked one.
