With the game tied at 49-all with one minute left, the Decorah girls basketball team (3-16, 1-10 NEIC) couldn't make a last-second shot at Oelwein Tuesday night, falling 52-49 to the Huskies (12-8, 5-7 NEIC).

It was a valiant effort by the Vikings to make it a close game down the stretch. Decorah fell behind 9-14 at the end of the first. That lead ballooned to 16 in the second quarter, with Oelwein going up 35-19.
Decorah was down 21-41 midway through the third quarter before finding a way to break the Oelwein defense and hold Oelwein's Nicole Burgin to just three second-half field goals. The Vikes came all the way back to take the lead at 47-42 with three minutes remaining, in total outscoring Oelwein 31-17 in the second half.
