The team season came to an end for the Decorah boys tennis team as the Vikes fell to Dubuque Wahlert 5-2 Saturday in the regional semifinals.
Dubuque Wahlert went on to defeat Cedar Rapids Xavier 5-4 in the finals to advance to state
"We knew coming in the lower part of our order would have to provide the victory. They gave a valiant effort," said Coach Reg Laursen.
The Vikes two victories came in the singles game. No. 3 Caleb Ulring knocked off Gavin Boll 7-5, 6-2 while No. 5 T.J. Misseldine defeated Will McDonald 6-4, 6-4.
"C.J.(Cliff) and Brett (LaRue) played very good second sets, but their opponents upped the ante in their third sets that we couldn't answer," said Laursen. "We were hanging on by a thread after singles, but the Wahlert top two cut that thread by dominating in their respective doubles matches.
