It was a bitter pill to swallow for the Decorah boys soccer team Saturday as the Vikes lost in the substate final 3-0 to Dubuque Wahlert (7-9), ending the season one game away from the state tournament.

Wahlert moved on to the state tournament, facing No. 1 seed Cedar Rapids Xavier (11-5) today, Thursday, May 30, in Des Moines.

Decorah ends the year 7-6.

Decorah fell behind 1-0 in the first half Saturday.

"Without the help of a poor call from the officiating crew, Decorah and Wahlert would've gone into halftime tied at 0-0. However, a blatant offsides call was missed," said DHS Coach David Keller.
