Although they didn't get the win, the Decorah boys basketball team (1-0) had a good start to the season Friday in the 58-46 loss to Cedar Falls.
"While we weren't satisfied with the loss, our kids battled and had an opportunity to win the game," said Coach Jonathan Carlson.
The Vikings started the game well. After taking the first points of the season, the Vikes fell behind in the frame, trailing 7-10 after the first quarter. Early in the second, the Vikings battled back, taking a brief 18-16 lead. After falling behind 18-21, the Viking defense held Cedar Falls scoreless the final four minutes of the quarter while they built a 28-21 lead at the half.
