The Decorah boys soccer team (4-4-2) played four games in three days over the weekend.
Thursday the Vikings fell at Postville 3-0 on the road.
Decorah played three games Saturday at the Waverly-Shell Rock tournament. The Vikes defeated Center Point-Urbana 1-0 in the first game. Following a 1-1 regular time tie with Webster City, the Lynx won 4-2 on penalty kicks. Decorah was tied with Humbolt 0-0 and won on penalty kicks 4-3.
“In the Waverly tournament this past weekend, Decorah took third overall after beating CP-U and Humboldt in penalty kicks. Decorah’s Brent Schaeffer and Isaac Marquardt were awarded All-Tournament team honors,” said Coach David Keller. “Brent scored both of Decorah’s goals in the tournament from powerful headers. Isaac played every second of 180 minutes of soccer throughout the day and was still sprinting in the closing seconds of the Vikings’ last game. Overall, the team performed well and was unlucky to not get in to the championship game after losing out on penalty kicks to Webster City.”
