The Decorah boys and girls cross country teams had a chance to race against runners their own age at the Go-Hawk Classic Tuesday in Waverly.

The meet is divided into four races by grade level, combining each team's top five runners for the overall team score, with no more than two representatives from each grade level. Individual grade level races are scored by each team's top three runners at their respective grade.

For the girls, ranked No. 5 in Class 3A, the team finished first with 20 points. Individually, the freshmen were ninth (74 points), sophomores first (15 points), juniors first (23 points) and seniors first (22 points).

Ranked No. 1 in Class 3A, the Decorah boys came up just short in the overall team score, taking second with 19 points. Taking first was Dubuque Hempstead with 13 points. Individually, the freshmen were first (28 points), sophomores second (42 points), juniors fourth (46 points) and seniors first (9 points).
