The foundation is set for the Decorah girls soccer team to make a run through the playoffs.
All that’s needed is the weather to cooperate so they can get time on the field.
Looking to add to the historic program is new Head Coach Kyrie Jorgenson, who herself had a storied career in the sport. She replaces Julie Shockey, who resigned earlier this spring.

The Vikings of 2013 featured a veteran team hoping to move through the regular season smoothly. Unfotunately, sloppy playing conditions took their toll, with several games being cancelled.

Twelve letter winners led the way for the Vikings, which had 21 players out for varsity.
The playoffs started with a bang for the Vikings as the team knocked off Epworth, Western Dubuque 6-0. That set the stage with Dubuque Wahlert.
Round two saw the Vikings knock off the Golden Eagles 2-1, sending them one game away from state. Standing in the way was Class 2A No. 2 Pleasant Valley. The Spartans held tough, defeating Decorah 5-1.
The Vikes ended the season 7-10.
