Former Iowa standout and Decorah native Brett Van Sloten suffered a knee injury during the Baltimore Ravens preseason game with the Houston Texans Saturday, Aug. 16.
Van Sloten, who started two seasons at offensive tackle for the Iowa Hawkeyes, is an undrafted rookie for the Ravens. He saw action in the game with the Texans when he was injured. According to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, Van Sloten suffered an MCL tear in the game and did not practice Monday. The Ravens listed his absence as “undisclosed.”
The Ravens host the Washington Redskins Saturday, Aug. 23, and close out the preseason Thursday, Aug. 28, at New Orleans.
The roster needs to be cut to 53 players by the first game of the regular season, Sunday, Sept. 7.
Van Sloten is a 2009 graduate of Decorah High School and is the son of Doug and Kendra Van Sloten.
