It was a good start to the week for the Turkey Valley boys basketball team (4-2, 4-1 UIC) as the Trojans grabbed two conference victories.
A fast start to the game helped the Trojans take care of West Central (2-3, 1-3 UIC) 54-48 Monday night in Jackson Junction
The Trojans started quickly, scoring 26 points in the first eight minutes to lead 26-9. However, the Blue Devils came fighting right back, posting their own big frame with 18 in the second to cut the lead to 32-27 at the halftime break.
"In the first quarter, we were getting great looks at the basket and couldn't seem to miss," said Coach Chris Sullivan. "In the second quarter, we weren't making the extra pass like we were in the first quarter, and we let them back into the game. West Central started knocking down some outside shots, and we only led by five at halftime. We had to make a few adjustments, and the kids came out and did a nice job of adjusting."
