Turkey Valley baseball coach Dan Stepan and the Trojans are having a good week.
The Trojans picked up four wins in two days to move to 8-4 overall and 5-1 in the Upper Iowa Conference

Conference wins
Monday night Turkey Valley hosted MFL (2-4, 2-3 UIC). In the first game, the Trojans won 9-5, thanks to two big offensive innings when they produced a total of six runs. Ryan Busta drove in two of those runs in the third inning on a two-RBI single while Kyle Reicks drove in two in the fourth on a single.
The Trojans pounded 10 hits. Ry. Busta was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI. Reicks was 3-for-3 with three RBI. Justin Izer had the other RBI.
Riley Meirick was the winning pitcher. He went six innings, giving up two earned runs on four hits. Ry. Busta closed the game.
“We had a good pitching performance from Riley,” said Stepan. “We also had some two-out hits.”
Game two saw the Trojans win 11-2. They scored in every inning but the sixth, including a four-run second.
In total, the team produced 12 hits. Michael Novotny was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, a double and three RBI. Cody Hackman had two singles and drove in two. Justin Hackman had two singles as well. Meirick and Ry. Busta both drove in two runs.
In this game, Ry. Busta went the distance. In seven innings he allowed three hits and struck out nine.
