Facing two teams in two days, the Turkey Valley boys basketball team (8-11, 6-9 UIC) split its games, winning a UIC match.
Monday the Trojans hosted Dunkerton (15-1), falling 44-55.
It was a good start defensively for both teams, with the Raiders taking a 9-5 lead after eight minutes. It was a back-and-forth struggle in the second, with the visiting team going up 22-16 at the break. The Raiders pulled away in the third, putting the Trojans down 18. The Trojans cut the lead to eight with three minutes left, but that was as close as it got.
"The kids played with a lot of energy all night and did nice job of executing our game. Dunkerton had a 6'11" kid, and throughout the night we did an excellent job of doubling down on him and not giving him anything easy," said. "Although we lost this game, I believe this will give us the confidence we need moving forward as we finish out the regular season and move into the postseason."
Riley Buchheit had 16 points and 20 boards. Ryan Busta scored 13 points and had five assists. Steven Landa pulled down nine boards in addition to his seven points.
