Facing what should be one of the toughest teams in the conference, the Turkey Valley baseball team (2-3, 1-1 UIC) earned a split with North Fayette Valley (2-2, 1-1 UIC) Monday night at home.
The Trojans fell 3-2 in game won but picked up a victory in the second contest, 6-5.

Game 1
“Good pitching and defense, not so good offense,” was how Turkey Valley Head Coach Dan Stepan described the first game between the Trojans and the TigerHawks.
NFV scored a run in the second, taking advantage of back-to-back walks. They added another run in the third. Turkey Valley got on the board in the bottom of the third when Riley Meirick got on base on an error. He stole second and third, then scored on a pass ball.
The TigerHawks responded with a run in the top of the fourth, making it 3-1. TV’s last run came in the bottom of the sixth. Riley Busta earned a walk and scored on a single by Meirick. However, that was all the Trojans could muster.
As a team, they had just three hits, with singles by Meirick, Kyle Reicks and Justin Izer.
Ri. Busta started the game on the mound, throwing the first four innings. He gave up five hits and struck out six. Ryan Busta threw the final three innings, getting four strikeouts.
