Trojans split with Kee

The Turkey Valley baseball team (13-12, 6-5 UIC) played .500 to end the week, winning two games.
The Trojans earned a victory in the first game of a series at Kee High (15-14, 6-5 UIC) Thursday, defeating Kee 7-3.
The Trojans put up four runs in the first inning. Kee came back to get three in the second; however the Trojans put up one each in the third, fourth and seventh.
There were nine TV hits. Riley Meirick was 3-for-4 with three singles. Ryan Busta had two hits and scored twice. Luke Kuennen and Ryan Izer each drove in two runs.
Riley Busta picked up the win. He went seven innings, allowing no earned runs on six hits and six strikeouts.
A slow game offensively was the difference in game two as the Trojans lost 3-0. Kee scored all three runs in the third.
The Trojans didn’t have a single hit.
J. Izer went six innings on the mound, allowing six hits.
“We pitched well again, we just couldn’t get the bats going,” said Head Coach Dan Stepan.
