It was a good start to the week as the Turkey Valley softball team (11-10, 9-4 UIC) moved above .500 with three wins.

Doing enough
Four runs in the fifth inning proved to be the difference in the first game Monday as the Trojans defeated Central (6-17, 3-10 UIC) 4-2 at home.
Central got on the board first, putting up a run in the third. They added an insurance run in the fifth. However; Turkey Valley’s offense finally broke though in the bottom half of the frame.
Turkey Valley took advantage of six hits and seven walks. Taylor Novotny had two of those hits and scored a run. Shelby Reicks and Sarah Busta both had doubles and scored a run, with Busta also driving in two. Johanna Blazek produced the other RBI.
Sara Fischer picked up the win. She didn’t give up an earned run while allowing four hits.
