The state track meet was a success for the Turkey Valley boys and girls track teams.

The boys scored points in three events while the girls scored in two events at Drake Stadium May 16-18.

Boys score 11 points

The boys team had a great outing at the state track meet, with their seven events scoring 11 points to finish 21st in Class 1A.

Starting the meet strong, sophomore Ryan Izer finished fifth in the 3,200-meter run, completing with a time of 10:12.89. Last year Izer was 15th in 10:44.26. Izer came back Saturday in the 1,600-meter run. With the heat visibly coming off the track, Izer beat the heat by taking 16th in 4:48.22.

The 4x100 relay stepped off the track Saturday having put together a strong performance. In Friday afternoon's prelims, the quartet of Jordan Denk, Dalton Hackman, Nathan Suell and Brian Scmitt had the fourth fastest time of 44.48 seconds, sending them to the finals. That time was a new school record, after that same quartet broke the old record the week before. Satruday afternoon the Trojans posted a time of 44.66 seconds, earning them fifth in Class 1A.
