Thursday it was a happy homecoming for the Turkey Valley volleyball team as it defeated West Central 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 30-28).

The win evens the Trojans' record at 8-8 while moving it to 4-2 in the Upper Iowa Conference.

The team had 30 kills, 93 attack attempts, 25 assists, 52 digs, five total blocks and served 74-for-80 with nine aces.

Njus had 10 kills, 23 attack attempts, eight digs and served 10-for-12 with two aces. Kalyn Kruse had four aces, served 18-for-20 and had 10 digs.

Johanna Blazek and Emily Elsbernd both had 12 digs while Elsbernd added 14 assists. Kayla Schaufenbuel had six kills, 19 attack attempts and served 10-for-10.

"It has been a fun week with homecoming, and we played tough enough tonight to get the win," said Coach Tammy Vrzak.

"Our serving was on tonight, and Allie Njus put some tough hits down."



The Trojans had the weekend off. The next game is today, Tuesday, Oct. 2, at Clayton Ridge.
