It was a busy stretch for the Turkey Valley baseball team (7-7, 3-1 UIC) as the Trojans played four games in three days.
Thursday Turkey Valley Head Coach Dan Stepan battled former Trojan Sean Leonard in a non-conference battle. In the end, the Trojans came out on to, winning 16-4 at Dike-New Hartford.
The Trojans got seven runs in the first inning while sending 12 batters to the plate. The inning started with a double, a single, another single, then a three-run home run by Luke Kuennen. Continuing on, the Trojans had three straight singles, followed by a double and a walk before the inning ended. They added two more runs in the fourth, with Dike-New Hartford scoring three in the bottom half of the inning. In the top of the seventh, the Trojans again put up seven, with two doubles, two walks, four walks, an error and two batters hit by a pitch.
"The kids hit well and Justin Izer threw strikes," said Stepan. " I hate having to coach against former assistants and players. Someone has to always lose in those match ups, and I don't like that."
Nic Schaufenbuel was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Kuennen and Rily Busta both had three RBIs.
Justin Izer was the winning pitcher, throwing all six inning and allowing four runs.
