Following the first day of competition at the state track meet, the Turkey Valley contingent have had a lot to cheer about.
Junior Ryan Izer came in third in the 3,200-meter run. He crossed the finish line in 9:54.38.
The girls 4x800 also put Trojan fans on their feet. The combination of Stephanie Martin, Kirsten Huinker, Sadie Nymeyer and Shelby Reicks finished fourth in a school-record 9:59.01.
Chloe Reicks started the day with the shot put. She placed 11th with a best of 33 feet, 11 inches.
The boys 4x800 claimed 17th in 8:44.41. Team members were Nick Meirick, Wyatt Blazek, Steven Landa and Izer.
Concluding the day were S. Reicks and Huinker in the 400-meter run. S. Reicks finished 14th in 1:02.75. Huinker claimed 24th in 1:05.80.
Competition resumes Friday at 9 a.m. with C. Reicks in the discus.
