The Turkey Valley baseball team (15-16, 9-7 UIC) picked another win this week, playing against Waukon in non-conference action Monday night.
The opening game was a slew of runs, with the two teams combining for 23 total runs. Although Waukon came back for one in the bottom of the seventh, the Trojans held on, winning 12-11.
Turkey Valley took an early lead, taking advantage of the Waukon defense in the first inning to get four runs. Riley Meirick started the game by reaching on an error. Following an out and a fielder's choice, Dalton Hackman singled in a run. Jacob Hackman then singled, scoring two runs.
Six runs crossed home plate in the second, with three singles, two errors and three walks. Waukon came back with a run in the second. TV scored a run in the fourth, with Waukon getting five in that frame, making it 11-6. After TV scored another run in the fifth, Waukon scored four in the inning. In the bottom of the seventh, Waukon got a run on a single, a walk and a sacrifice before TV ended the game with a fly out.
The Trojans had nine hits. Kyle Reicks was 3-for-3 with an RBI. Jacob Hackman had two hits, with three RBIs and three runs scored. Dalton Hackman had two singles and two runs scored, along with three stolen bases. Nic Schaufenbuel had two RBIs and a double.
Riley Busta was the winning pitcher. He went 4 and 2/3 innings, allowing seven earned runs (10 total) on nine hits. Ryan Busta got the save.
