With two non-conference games to close the regular season, the Turkey Valley baseball team (16-17) split two games with opponents from the Northeast Iowa Conference.

The Trojans open the playoffs today, Tuesday, July 16, against East Buchanan.



Just short

The Trojans fell behind early Wednesday night to Oelwein (20-9) and could never make up the difference, falling 4-3.

Oelwein got a run in the second, two in the third and one in fourth.

TV came back firing.

The Trojans broke through in the fifth when Dalton Hackman reached base on a single. Jacob Hackman singled, with D. Hackman scoring on an error.

Two runs scored in the sixth inning. Justin Izer started the frame with a single. Riley Meirick then walked. Following an out, Ryan Busta brought home a run on a sacrifice. With two outs D. Hackman drove in a run on an error.

"It was a well played game," said Coach Dan Stepan. "It was nice to see the kids give us a chance to win."

The Trojans had three hits in the game. D. Hackman, J. Hackman and Izer all had singles.

Izer took the loss on the mound. He gave up two earned runs on eight hits.
