To end the regular season, the Turkey Valley softball team (14-16, 9-9 UIC) finished the year strong, winning five straight Upper Iowa Conference games.

The Trojans finished fifth in the conference standings. The opening game of the playoffs was Monday night.



Defeating the Tigers

Wednesday the Trojans hosted Valley (9-17, 5-13 UIC) in a double header. The first game was a 12-2 victory in five innings for the Trojans. TV scored two runs in the first inning. After Valley got a run back in the top of the second, the Trojans responded with five in the second inning, including a two-run home run by Emily Elsbernd.

Overall the Trojans had 13 hits. Olivia Reicks was 3-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and four runs scored. Johanna Blazek and Macey Winter both had two hits, a run scored and a double. Elsbernd also had two hits.

Sara Fischer got the win. She allowed seven hits.
