Monday rain didn't stop the Turkey Valley softball team (8-14, 3-7 UIC from heading to West Union to take on North Fayette.

The Trojans split a series with the Hawks.

Tuesday they were to play Nashua-Plainfield; however, the game was cancelled to allow the Huskies to play a conference make-up game.

In the first game, the Trojans fell 3-13 in six innings. Turkey Valley took a 3-1 lead after the top of the third. However, the Hawks answered with four runs in the bottom of the third and six in the bottom of the fourth. Two runs in the sixth ended the game.

Turkey Valley had six hits. Arianna Rausch provided two singles. Kalyn Kruse had a double and scored a run. Allie Njus and Olivia Reicks both had a single and scored a run. Chloe Reicks had the other hit.

Jess Hansmeier took the loss. She allowed 13 hits.

Game two was a 4-2 win for TV. North Fayette took a 2-0 lead after the first. TV came back with a run in the third, two in the fifth and one in the seventh.

The Trojans had six hits. Njus was 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Macey Winter had two hits and drove in three. Kirsten Huinker had the other hit.

Sara Fischer was the winning pitcher. She threw seven innings, giving up eight hits and four runs.



The push to the end of the season is upon the Trojans. Today, Thursday, June 27, they host MFL, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 1, they travel to Kee High for a double header at 5:30 p.m.
