With the season winding down, the Turkey Valley baseball team (14-15, 9-7 UIC) split a two-game set with Valley (11-19, 7-7 UIC) Wednesday in Jackson Junction.
Scoring six runs in the sixth inning, the Trojans came back to defeat Valley 10-6 in the first game.
Turkey Valley scored three runs in the bottom of the second on a double by Jacob Hackman, an RBI single by Riley Busta, an RBI double by Justin Izer and an RBI single by Riley Meirick.
Valley put up a run in the fourth, then five in the sixth to lead 6-3. However, the Trojans made some noise in their half of the sixth. The inning was highlighted by a grand slam by Dalton Hackman. Mike novotny drove in two runs on a double.
Turkey Valley had eight hits. Meirick had two singles and drove in a run. Ri. Busta had two singles as well, with an RBI. Novotny, Izer and J. Hackman each had a double.
Novotny came in in relief in the sixth inning and got the win. He allowed seven hits and struck out eight. Meirick started the game.
"It was good to come back after losing the lead," said Coach Dan Stepan. "We still had too many errors."
