It wasn't electric offensively, but a win is a win for the Turkey Valley boys basketball team as the Trojans (7-10, 5-9 UIC) knocked off Starmont (5-10, 4-6 UIC) 40-32 Saturday.

It was a struggle to start the game, with the Trojans leading 4-2 after one quarter. The second frame was much of the same, with TV up 13-7 at the break.

"We threw some different defenses at Starmont, and we did a nice job of contesting shots in the first quarter," said Coach Chris Sullivan. "We didn't get the ball inside enough in the first half, and we were settling for outside jumpers which weren't going in."

In the third, the Trojans found a way to break the Starmont zone, posting 13 points to lead 26-17.

Steven Landa was in double figures with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Riley Busta had nine points while Ryan Busta had seven boards and five assists.

"Steven Landa had a nice game for us with a double-double, and he played excellent defense along with the rest of the team," said Sullivan. "It was a frustrating night offensively for us, but we got enough stops to get the win."
