It was a perfect day for a cross country meet Saturday as the Turkey Valley boys and girls cross country teams traveled to West Union for the North Fayette Valley Invite.

The boys, ranked No. 7 in Class 1A, finished fourth overall with 112 points. Top-ranked Denver won the meet with 58 points.

"We were looking for an opportunity to see how we stacked up against top ranked Denver. They are a legitimately competitive squad, and they can rely on depth. We look forward to meeting them again later in the season," said Coach Timothy Kruckman.

The Trojan girls didn't field a full varsity team for this meet. Class 2A No. 9 Cascade won the girls' meet with 61 points.

"We ran four of our girls in the JV race. This was the first meet of the season for each of them. They did relatively well, considering each was dealing with a little pain and soreness," said Kruckman. "It was their choice to race."
